Community Program

Be a Friend. Be a Guide. Be a Mentor.

Our Community Mentoring Program is the original mentoring program that Big Brothers Big Sisters was
built on, and the one many people think of when they hear our name. Adult volunteers are matched 1:1
with a child or youth in the community who could benefit from the support, guidance, and friendship of
a caring adult outside their immediate family. As a mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to make a
meaningful difference in your mentee’s life by sharing your experiences, offering guidance, and helping
them navigate the ups and downs of growing up. Matches are based on shared interests, life
experiences, and goals, and activities can be as simple as playing sports, doing arts and crafts, playing
board games, or simply spending time together.

This program requires a minimum one-year commitment, with visits taking place weekly or bi-weekly for
approximately 2–4 hours at a time. Throughout your match, our agency team will provide ongoing
support to help ensure a meaningful and positive experience for both you and your mentee.
