Mindful Mentoring – Developing Resiliency in Youth

We are excited to introduce “Mindful Mentoring,” a transformative program dedicated to guiding high school students towards a path of self-care and mental well-being. Through group mentorship, our program focuses on equipping young minds with essential tools for self-regulation, fostering resilience and a positive outlook on life.

We are proud to be part of the “Nanaimo Youth Resilience Strategy,” a city-wide initiative funded by the federal government. The strategy is aimed at empowering our youth, building resilience, and preventing violence and crime

Self-Care:
Acquire valuable skills to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges.

Self-Concept:
Nurturing a positive self-image and building a strong sense of self-worth.

Cultivating Positive Thoughts:
Learning the power of optimism and positivity in shaping our outlook on life.

Attachment:
Understanding the roots of our emotions and how our connections with others shape our well-being.

Mindful Mentoring is 12 weeks in length and incorporates two primary modules 1) Yoga and Mindfulness (8 weeks) and 2) Therapeutic Cognitive tools such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy- 4 weeks). Students will come away from Mindful Mentoring with tools and strategies to learn to effectively deal with emotional regulation and develop resiliency. The therapeutic cognitive module is delivered by Allius Counselling of Nanaimo.
